ICE Raids Hyundai Plant in US

ICE has raided a Hyundai plant in Georgia, USA, and detained hundreds of South Korean factory workers. In response to the incident, the South Korean government held an emergency meeting and promised a swift response. The Seoul government has sent diplomats to the factory, and LG Energy Solution, which co-operates with Hyundai, has suspended many of its business trips to the US.

During the incident on September 5, 475 South Korean factory workers were arrested and detained. ICE stated that they were arrested for illegal residency, and President Trump said that ICE was "doing its job." In a video released by ICE, workers can be seen being handcuffed, with some wearing uniforms bearing the names Hyundai and LG CNS.

South Korea, a close ally of the US, has promised to invest billions of dollars in American manufacturing to resolve tax issues. However, this raid has caused rising concerns. Trump, while encouraging foreign investment, has been implementing strict visa policies. Officials said that many of the arrested South Korean employees were in the US on business trips under a visa waiver program.

South Korea's foreign minister stated that he would go to Washington if necessary, and South Korean media is widely reporting the raid as a shocking event. This incident could have a negative impact on South Korean investments in the United States.
