UK healthcare sector is facing a severe staff shortage

A direct result of recent visa policy changes that have led to a significant drop in visas issued to foreign workers. In the year leading up to June 2025, visa issuance for the health sector plummeted by 77%, creating a worrying situation.

The main causes of this decline are the government's suspension of previous support programs, stricter visa policies, and more rigorous screening of employers. The British government's goal is to reduce immigration rates, but this has led to consequences such as higher costs, more difficult procedures, and intensified scrutiny for employers. If these effects persist, the British government may have to reconsider and ease its visa policies & procedures.
