Japan to Tighten Rules for Business Manager Visa

For a long time, Japan has had a Business Manager Visa category to attract investors. It was seen as an easy way to settle in Japan at a low cost, as it only required a minimum investment of ¥5 million (approximately $34,000 USD).

However, due to a rise in fraudulent visa applications using fake companies, the government is tightening the rules. Starting in October, they will increase the minimum investment to ¥30 million and require that a management consultant from the Japanese government evaluate the applicant's business plan.

Currently, there are over 40,000 Business Manager visa holders in Japan. Over half of them are Chinese nationals, followed by Nepal, South Koreans, Vietnamese, and Pakistanis.
