This article will highlight the 10 best countries in the world for retirement. Settling abroad has become increasingly popular for people looking for a new lifestyle and a lower cost of living after they retire. This year, a report from the organization Global Citizen Solutions selected the top 10 best countries for retirement based on six key factors: application process, citizenship and freedom of travel, economics, tax optimization, quality of life, and seamless integration with locals.

Most of the countries chosen are in the Americas and Europe, where the quality of life and healthcare systems are highly rated. According to the report, the number one country for retirement in 2025 is Portugal, followed by Mauritius, Spain, Uruguay, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Malta, Latvia, and Chile. Although Thailand is also considered a good country for retirees, it was likely excluded from this list due to political instability and issues like bank account closures caused by scams.
