ကုလသမဂ္ဂအဖွဲ့ဝင် နိုင်ငံပေါင်းစုံက ခေါင်းဆောင်တွေ၊ ကိုယ်စားလှယ်တွေ တက်ရောက်ကြမယ့် ကုလသမဂ္ဂ အထွေထွေညီလာခံကို နယူးယောက် ကုလသမဂ္ဂ ရုံးချုပ်မှာ စက်တင်ဘာလ အတွင်း စတင်တော့မှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်၊ ဒီအစည်းအဝေးကို ပါလက်စတိုင်း အာဏာပိုင်အဖွဲ့ဝင်တွေ တက်လို့ မရအောင် အမေရိကန် အစိုးရက ပြည်ဝင်ခွင့် ဗီဇာမပေးဘဲ တားမြစ်လိုက်ပါတယ်။

The US Government denies visas to the Palestinian Authority to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

The international meeting of leaders and representatives from various UN member states is set to begin on September 9th at the UN Headquarters in New York. The US government is preventing the Palestinian Authority from attending this meeting by denying them visas.

This action contradicts the 1947 agreement between the UN and the US government. This agreement stipulates that the host country must promptly issue visas to individuals invited to the UN Headquarters on official business, regardless of bilateral relations. However, the US government often denies visas to officials from countries with which it has poor relations. For instance, in 2020, at the height of tensions with Iran, the US refused to issue a visa to Iran's foreign minister at the time. The US regularly uses visas as a diplomatic tool at the UN and severely restricts the freedom of movement of diplomats from adversarial countries, often simply by refusing to issue a visa. In 1988, the US also denied a visa to then-PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat, which led the UN General Assembly to hold part of its session in Geneva, Switzerland, so he could address the delegates.

Many countries are protesting these visa restrictions and denials. It remains to be seen what will happen next.
