Summary of Trump's Controversial Speech at UNGA’s 2025

Donald Trump's speech at the UN General Assembly on September 23 sparked global controversy. He called "Green Energy" the "greatest con job ever perpetrated upon the world," effectively stating that it is unnecessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, a key factor in global warming.
He urged countries to continue relying on fossil fuels instead of costly renewable energy. He even went so far as to say, "Your countries are going to hell," and that nations would fail if they didn't move away from this "green scam." His harsh language caused global leaders at the assembly to refuse to answer any questions.
Acting like a businessman, Trump promoted increased domestic fossil fuel extraction. He also urged the British prime minister to drill for more oil and reduce renewable energy projects. Additionally, he blamed China for global air pollution problems and defended the tightening of visa regulations. At a time when almost every country was drafting and implementing policies to reduce fossil fuel use, Trump's speech was highly inappropriate. While he praised the UN, it's unclear whether he was sincere or sarcastic. Although he boasted about ending seven wars without the UN's help, he has yet to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza as he promised during his campaign, and the situation remains to be seen.
